2024 is a pretty sad year for Jaguar enthusiasts. Not only did the British automaker discontinue its XE, XF, and F-Type models, but come late 2024, the brand's current utility vehicles will follow suit as Jaguar gears up for the EV-only future.
Prior to discontinuing the F-Pace sport utility vehicle, Jaguar has identified a rather worrisome problem affecting a small population. Over in the United States, the number of affected vehicles is 133, with production dates ranging from November 29, 2023 to December 18, 2023.

Assembled at the Solihull plant in the United Kingdom, said vehicles feature oil filter housings produced with the incorrect specification of plastic. This, in turn, results in cracks that allow the engine oil to leak onto hot components and on the road surface below. Otherwise put, the recall condition leads to both fire and skid hazards.

J6P3-6714-AB is the part number of the suspect housing, which comes from UK-based PurFlux Filtration. Jaguar Land Rover became aware of this problem on April 3, 2024 by means of a field report alleging a housing with a hairline crack. Separate from Jaguar, the Land Rover side of JLR has recalled 1,995 vehicles in the United States to address this problem. In Land Rover's case, everything from the Discovery up is affected.

As per the document attached below, "there have been a small number of fires as a result of this concern." Jaguar Land Rover's Product Safety and Compliance Committee started investigating the problem on June 7, which progressed the matter to the Recall Determination Committee on June 11. Two days later, the recall boffins agreed that a safety recall needs to be launched ASAP.

Dealers have already been instructed to replace the oil filter housing, the filter, and O-rings at no charge to affected customers. Meanwhile, owners have to wait until August 9, 2024 at the latest to receive a JLR-branded envelope containing the recall notification. Still, owners can easily tell whether their F-Pace vehicles are affected or not by running the 17-character VIN on Jaguar's recall portal or on the federal watchdog's site.

In this case, vehicle identification numbers begin with SAD. It's kind of sad that Jaguar is on the brink of bidding farewell to internal combustion as well, especially now that demand for hybrids and PHEVs continues to gain momentum. Going forward, the plan is for Jaguar to deploy a new platform dubbed Jaguar Electrified Architecture.

Its first application is a four-door grand tourer with an estimated range of 700 kilometers (430 miles) in the WLTP rather than in EPA testing. Expected to debut by the end of 2024, the newcomer should enter production in 2025 at the Solihull plant. It will be joined by electric versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, with prices for the yet-unnamed model to start at just around £100,000 or circa $126,380.

An electric sport utility vehicle and an electric sedan are said to be planned on the JEA as well. Similar to the grand tourer, they are believed to come in dual-motor specification as standard.
