English celebrity chef, television personality, professional race driver, and self-confessed petrolhead Paul Hollywood is again purging his impressive collection. This time, two of his choppers are up for grabs.
The name Paul Hollywood probably doesn’t ring a bell for readers across the pond, but back home in the UK, he’s one of the biggest names on the showbiz scene.
He is a world-famous baker and host of The Bake Off reality series, but also a known car/motorcycle collector and racer. As celebrities go, he’s also pretty eccentric, reportedly selling his entire car collection in late 2019 after a bad breakup because the butt of the now-ex-girlfriend had sat in the driver seat of them all and he didn’t like to be reminded of her. Hilariously, he bought several identical cars to those he gave up for this reason.
This time, Hollywood is selling two of his choppers. They bear no association with the ex, but local reports claim that he’s trying to raise some money, presumably to invest in new rides or related projects.
One of these is the Big Dog Ridgeback Chopper that was featured heavily in the 2019 series Paul Goes to Hollywood, so it’s famous in its own right, not just by association. In black with red accents, it made for a memorable appearance in the special, which saw the celebrity chef cover 3,000 miles (4,830 km) from New York to Los Angeles.
This one is a 2003 model registered in the UK the following year. Though used, it’s listed as in excellent condition on eBay. The Big Dog Hardtail frame houses a 107 cubic inch (1750-cc) S&S engine with a Baker six-speed transmission. Stopping power comes courtesy of front and rear Performance Machine calipers. “Those brake master cylinders are built into the hand/foot controls, a clever feature giving them a clean look,” the listing adds.
This Big Boy will set you back £25,995, which is $34,715 at today’s exchange rate.
The other chopper offered by Hollywood through the same dealer is also a 2003 make, Big Dog Ridgeback Chopper S&S Hardtail, but as of the time of press, the listing has ended. Specs are identical, at least as far as the listing notes, but the color is different: this one is finished in silver and isn’t TV-famous. As such, it’s considerably cheaper, at £17,995 ($24,034).
