car2go Sponsors Eco Series

Car sharing company car2go announced yesterday it will sponsor Eco Series, a grass-roots initiative operating in Austin, Texas, whose main goal is to provide the platform needed to "develop solutions for a sustainable lifestyle."

“We are proud to sponsor Eco Series,” said Nicholas Cole, CEO and President of car2go North America. “Eco Series and car2go are both passionate about developing forward-thinking, environmentally friendly solutions to the challenges of urban growth. Eco Series’ vision, strong connections to the Austin community and dedication to sustainability make car2go’s sponsorship a perfect match.”

The agreement between the two means those taking part in the Eco Series network have been granted access the the car sharing company's fleet of 200 smart fortwo vehicles.

Being a free-floating network of vehicles rather than a station-based one, car2go allows users access to cars on-demand. There's no need to specify a return time, nor a return location. Charges are based on minutes used and include fuel, insurance, parking and maintenance.

“We are very excited about car2go’s support of Eco Series through this significant sponsorship. It reflects their strong commitment to solutions driving a more sustainable urban lifestyle,” said Roland Galang, co-founder of Eco Series.

“car2go’s sponsorship will enable Eco Series to further expand our production of speaker series, building tours, and custom events to bring awareness and affect change within our community,” Amanda Ogden, the other co-founder added.
