An entirely new carsharing service sporting the well-known car2go brand will appear in the following weeks, only this time it will no longer offer tiny smart fortwo vehicles but the much larger Mercedes-Benz B-Class.
Under the car2go black brand, Daimler Mobility Services GmbH will star a fully automated carsharing service featuring only Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

In the initial rollout of the system, which is set to begin this February in the German cities of Hamburg and Berlin, a network of 200 black Mercedes-Benz B-Class W246 vehicles will be available for sharing.

“With car2go we have revolutionized urban mobility. With car2go black we are now offering carsharing with Mercedes-Benz vehicles. We will thus be addressing a wider range of customers and enabling long-distance travel,” said Robert Henrich, Head of Daimler Mobility Services GmbH.

Just like the “regular” car2go service, the car2go black is a smartphone-based carsharing system, where using a simple app users can easily locate a vehicle at any of the dedicated parking stations throughout the city.

All B-Class used by the service are equipped with the 7G-DCT double-clutch transmission, navigation system, air conditioning and heated leather seats. We will be supplying more information after the new service is rolled out.
