Naturally, no one gets at the wheel of a car thinking they might crash that day. Neither did Joseph Rubino, an alleged Neo-Nazi / white supremacist who got busted by the New Jersey State Police because he got into an accident.
The crash actually occurred at the end of last month, but prosecutors have just announced the charges against Rubino, the New York Post reports. This is one time where the general public may feel guilt-less relief about someone being in a car crash.
According to the publication, police showed up at the scene of the accident and officers were immediately on the alert about Rubino because they “noticed something unusual” as they were trying to pull him out of the wreck. As it turns out, the dude was riding with a vehicle packed with weapons and ammunition.
“Cops spotted a cache of firearms and ammunition, including a semi-automatic assault handgun, a 9mm semi-automatic assault pistol with a high-capacity magazine, a loaded 9mm pistol, a high-capacity magazine with 12 bullets, a wooden club and a baseball bat,” the media outlet says.
And this was just the tip of the iceberg. A later visit at Rubino’s residence revealed an even more impressive weapons arsenal – dozens more, including a ballistics vest and a grenade launcher. Rubino also had white supremacist propaganda, including “SS Bolts” bumper stickers and something that looked like “an instruction manual for owning a slave.”
Also at his home, they found drugs, in such a large quantity as to indicate an intention to distribute: meth, weed vape cartridges and marijuana.
Rubino has been charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The drug trafficking charge is the most serious of the lot, and could land Rubino a life sentence, if found guilty.
