I can’t believe what’s been happening to the Fisker Ocean. Well, Fisker in general. I’ve been following the Ocean’s progress since the “Covid days”, and at one point I was pretty high on it. It really did seem like a solid bang for your buck in terms of decent battery-electric compact SUVs.
Fast-forward a few years and since then, the Ocean has been recalled more times than I can recall (pun intended), offered to Fisker employees on the cheap, and then the company itself filed for bankruptcy. Not exactly a storybook ending, wouldn’t you say?

Anyway, speaking of buying cheap Fisker Oceans, we just found an Ocean One ‘Launch Edition’ model that sold for $26,258 at auction recently. This is one of 5,000 units produced in Launch Edition spec, and it’s got 1,800 miles on the clock. According to the seller, a dealership out of Costa Mesa, California, this thing just sold for less than half its MSRP.

Normally, this would stand as a huge blow to Fisker, the selling dealer, pretty much everyone involved with the sale. But frankly, I think the dealership is glad to be rid of this thing, because prices will only keep plummeting. Besides, it’s not like Fisker themselves haven’t offered the Ocean to employees for even less than $26k, reportedly.

Let’s dive into the specs a little bit, with regards to this car. We’re dealing with a predominantly blue exterior, featuring matte black lower body cladding. This Ocean also comes with SolarSky solar charging panels for the panoramic sunroof, to go with the carmaker’s so-called “California Mode”, which will open the sunroof and windows at the same time. Wind in your hair, that type of thing.

Other visual features include the F3 SlipStream 22” wheels with marbled carbon fiber accents, the 255/45 Bridgestone Alenza Sport A/S tires, and the blue-finished calipers.

Moving on to the interior, here we have heated seats both at the front and rear, a multi-zone climate control system, under-seat storage, dual wireless phone chargers, Ocean One-branded recycled floor mats, a 17.1” rotating infotainment screen, heated steering wheel (fronting a smaller digital display), plus a whole bunch of active safety systems such as Front Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Lane-Keeping Assist, and even a driver drowsiness and attention warning system.

As for performance, this electric SUV boasts dual motors and a 106-kWh battery, offering 564 horsepower and 543 lb-ft of torque, plus a manufacturer-claimed range of 360 miles (579 km). This will get you from zero to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, and if you stop and think about that for a second, it sounds kind of amazing given the selling price.

Where else are you going to find a sub-4-second 0-60 mph SUV for the price of a new Toyota Corolla? The answer to that question is ‘nowhere’.
