In the search for the perfect mobile abode, some people are looking at custom tiny homes. However, these can often cost much more than some landlocked homes. So, what is there to do? Well, with the help of teams like ourselves, tracking down the most amazing machines, we've discovered Cahute.
Folks, the name Cahute may sound familiar to you. If it does, it's because we've taken a look at this crew and the work they achieved before. Well, as time has gone on, this French team has figured out that people want to add their own touch to a mobile and downsized home, in the process, giving birth to Tailor Made lineup.

Why make such a big deal out of custom tiny homes? Well, let me just start things off by pointing out that these babies start off at no more than €30,000 ($32,650 at current exchange rates). But that is the base price for the most standard unit, so bring your checkbook. However, let's check out what's possible when money is no object.

To start things off, take a close look at the images in the gallery. Really get a good feel for what's possible, and then return to the text to see what's going on.

First and foremost, take note of just how big these babies are; not big at all, typically only supported by a single axle. Then there's the building material; nothing but good ol' poplar is used to create frames, roofs, tables, trunks, and shelving. Some fittings are from cedar, however. More natural ingredients come in the shape of cork, used as insulation.

But, some customers, the ones that may have dreamed up that shiny metal Cahute, are taking things a bit further. Heck, imagine walking through the woods one day, and suddenly, you see an abode the likes of this metallic hut. I bet you're going to take some photos until the owner comes outside because of the commotion.

Speaking of little homes in the middle of the woods, it's nice to see Cahute aiming their units not only at park-ready adventurers but also those of us that want to get as far away from the grid as possible. This means that units can be equipped with solar panels and battery banks to ensure you can live out in the wild or some corner of a French vineyard.

Now, one thing I found rather odd was the fact that there are no images of interiors under the Tailor Made section. Nonetheless, Cahute does craft units similar in size, dimensions, and interior fittings. So, I've added a few shots of other Cahute interiors just to give you an idea of what's possible.

Once you've taken in all the magic that is a Tailor Made Cahute, it's time to place yourself in the center of all the action. This means hitching up the old truck - just about any of them will do since these units can weigh up to 1,600 kg (3,527 lbs) - and then hit the road. Next stop? That X on your map.

After driving for a few hours, hop out of your vehicle, stretch your legs and back muscles, and then start setting up your home for the next few days to weeks, depending on how much storage space you have available and the off-grid systems you've paid for. That said, set up your solar panel, fiddle with your BMS (Battery Management System) and prepare your outdoor picnic area.

Once you do so, spark up a little controlled fire and throw some meat and veggies onto a searing pan. Not allowed to make a fire where you've decided to camp out? Whip out the old grill and handle things the old-fashioned way. Don't you like to cook with dust flying all around you? Head inside and use an electric cooktop.

As for the adventure side of things, the Cahutes don't seem to be able to carry any gear or cargo racks. That said, you'll have to rely on your vehicle for this. Or, if your significant other doesn't mind you dirting up the floor, just throw everything inside during transit, and once you've reached your destination, take out the e-bikes or whatever you have in mind, voila!

There's just one other thing I need to point out about your customer Cahute. Considering these units are about as wide as a larger RV, you may be able to have all this without needing to rent a space. That alone means you should consider one of these babies if you're in the market for a custom tiny home like very few others around. The only downside is that you'll have to travel to Europe to get your hands on one.

If you don't have the time to create your dream Cahute but still want to get your hands on one, you're in luck; you can opt for the manufacturer to handle every step of the process, with the promise that they will "turn it into a true one-off piece." I wonder what the final bill would be for such a unit. Most likely around the same ballpark as a Cahute's Classic unit, so around €45,000 ($49,000).
