General Motors today announced that the new Cadillac SRX will make its Asian debut at the upcoming Auto Shanghai 2009 that will open its doors this month. Details regarding the SRX version expected to be sold in the Asian market are fairly sketchy at this point but it is expected to bring almost the same configurations as in the United States.
Unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show this year, the 2010 Cadillac SRX will be offered in a choice of two engines, a 3.0-liter V6 engine and a 2.8-liter turbocharged V6 unit that are expected to reduce hydrocarbon emissions by up to 25 percent.
Safety is going to be one of the main attributes of the upcoming model, with lots of features offered as standard including head curtain side airbags, seat-mounted pelvic/thorax side airbags, front safety belts with dual pretensioners and load limiters, pedal release system and rollover mitigation sensors.
“The all-new SRX is a fresh and compelling crossover aimed squarely at the priorities of luxury buyers. With new technologies for increased efficiency and safety, the redesigned 2010 SRX Crossover focuses on both the emotional and pragmatic sides of the luxury consumer,” said Mark McNabb, North America vice president, Cadillac/Premium Channel.
“The all-wheel-drive system with electronic limited slip effectively transfers torque not only from front to rear, but also along the rear axle. This system sets a new benchmark for all all-wheel-drive systems, giving the driver control and confidence on any road surface,” Bob Reuter, global vehicle chief engineer, added.
The United States version of the 2010 Cadillac SRX is projected to enter production in the second quarter of 2009.
