Rumors about Cadillac also building a coupe version of the ATS have been floating around ever since the car was revealed, and now it seems that the story has turned into an official one.
Cadillac brand chief, Robert Fergurson, used this year’s Detroit Motor Show to confirm that the ATS Coupe is on its way. The company will follow the pathway used for the CTS in terms of the coupe, but in the case of the ATS we won’t receive a wagon or a convertible version.
The Coupe is expected to borrow the engine range of the sedan. Thus, it should offer a 200 hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a turbocharged four-cylinder unit delivering 270 hp, as well as a 318 hp 3.6-liter V6. A hot version of the car is also a possibility, but there has been no official info about an upcoming ATS-V, so we’ll have to wait and see if such a proposal becomes a reality.
In addition to that, the executive confirmed that the ATS will gain a diesel engine for the European market.
