The American sports car landscape is changing. Soon, the Dodge Charger and Challenger will be no more – or at least not with the mighty Hemi V8 under the hood. As for the GM foes, only one of them will be left standing while Ford goes on unabated with the ICE-powered Ford Mustang.
Curiously, the latter is the least concerned about all the commotion. The Blue Oval company is making it as sporty as possible with GTD and motorsport versions, all the while without ultimately killing off its pony and muscle car spirit. Dodge will allegedly give the next Charger the inline-six Hurricane mills, Banshee EV powertrains, and just two doors. Meanwhile, the Challenger could soon retire to the eternal plains of muscle car Valhalla, unfortunately.

As for General Motors, it has ordained Chevrolet to drop the Camaro into retirement without any successor planned and focus solely on the mid-engine C8 Corvette sports car. Well, at least they're doing the latter right, complete with the initial Stingray wonder followed by the record-breaking FPC Z06 and the new bright star electrified E-Ray. And if you want to see how much the difference is between them, we have a few examples.

Coming off the recent encounter between a Camaro SS and the Tesla Model S Plaid, where the gap could probably be seen from the International Space Station, now there's a sweet little compilation of Corvettes versus Camaros. And it's all courtesy of the videographer behind the Wheels Plus channel on YouTube, who is a major fan of Bandimere Speedway and The Strip (Las Vegas Motor Speedway) but also likes Mission Raceway Park.

Known as Thunder by the River in the NHRA, this sanctioned quarter-mile dragstrip is located in Mission, British Columbia, Canada, and doesn't trouble us with elevation issues like the other two. However, that doesn't mean it will also make the racers any wiser, as you are about to see during the first skirmish. It's the one that should have been the greatest, as it opposes a Z06 Corvette dressed to make a powerful C8.R impression on everyone to a subtle Chevy Camaro.

Alas, when the race starts, the Camaro almost gets the upper hand and, in the end, loses the skirmish without getting too ashamed – that was just an 11.83s pass from the Z06 against Camaro's 12.91s ET. It's Stingray versus Camaro action starting with the second race – and we slowly progress toward more obvious victories for the C8 against its front-engine RWD cousin. Interestingly, one of the races ends with a Stingray doing an 11.76s pass, which goes to show that it doesn't matter if you have a more powerful ride if you don't know how to use it!
