The following video represents more than just a battle of exhaust decibels, it's a battle of different Teutonic mentalities.
On one hand we have the Formula 1-like, screaming sound of the S85B50 V10 in the BMW M6 Cabrio (E64), while on the other we hear the deep raspy burble of the M156 V8 in the C 63 AMG.
Even though this is a Mercedes-Benz-related blog and we should probably keep our bias towards the AMG sound, we can't really say that there's a true winner between the two. Each engine represents a different philosophy that somehow resonates with what the two arch-enemies Motorsport Technik and Aufrecht Melcher Grossaspach like to stand for.
M-Technik used to be all about circuit ready, high revving engines while AMG is and has always been a kind of a muscle car in a premium suit, almost like a silverback gorilla sporting a tuxedo.
Both engine-making mentalities are best represented by the following video. The M6 sounds like a flat-plane racing car while the C 63 AMG sounds like an angry bear that's gargling with African bees for mouth wash.
