What more could you want as a petrolhead from your timepiece other than it to be inspired by the car Enzo Ferrari described as being "the most beautiful" in the world? The Bremont Jaguar MKI and MKII are the watches in question and, as expected, they feature a lot of styling cues we’ve first seen on the original Jaguar E-Type.
Penned by a former aircraft designer called Malcolm Sayer, the 1961 Jaguar E-Type borrowed many design cues from the aircraft industry. As such, the Bremont Jaguar MkI and MKII pieces had to capture the spirit of the most iconic sports car of all time. Both of the 43 mm watches come with a black dial that's inspired by the 1961 Jaguar E-Type's rpm gauge, including the red zone quadrant.
Chamfered hour and minute hands are also on the menu, replicating the British feline's tachometer needle. The Trip-Tick case, on the other hand, is made out of polished stainless steel. As for the winding crown, that's engraved with the pattern of the old school Dunlop racing tires fitted to the Lightweight E-Type and its predecessor, the Le Mans-winning Jaguar D-Type racer.
Turn the watches over and you'll see one further reference to the 1961 Jaguar E-Type - the shape of the automatic winding rotor. Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the rotor is a miniaturization of the alloy-spoked steering wheel of the British sports car. As such, it's fair to say that the Bremont Jaguar MKI and MKII timepieces transport us back to the golden age of '60s sport car motoring.
Even the calf-skin leather bracelet replicates the spokes of the original E-Type's steering wheel. Both the Bremont Jaguar MKI and MKII are water-resistant up to 10 ATM and 100 meters. Regarding pricing, the non-limited edition Bremont Jaguar MKI costs $10,950, while the Bremont Jaguar MKII will set you back $6,550.
