Aachen-based tuner, AC Schnitzer decided to take the virtual veils off its latest creation, based on the F15 BMW X5 M50d, the biggest, baddest diesel in the Bavarian corner, for the moment.
As usual, the German tuner managed to squeeze seriously more power than what BMW promises, taking the already crazy output of the tri-turbo 6-cylinder, 3-liter diesel to even higher heights.
In standard guise, the M50d makes 381 HP and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque but the ACS version makes 430 HP, basically the same as the brand new M3 and M4 but in diesel guise and weighing considerably more.
The power increase was obtained thanks to a new ECU map and a revised exhaust that makes an even more impressive sound and takes the exhaust fumes out of the engine bay more efficiently. The suspension was also tuned to make sure the power increase won’t send you flying at high speeds.
Apart from the mechanical changes, the car also underwent the typical AC Schnitzer visual treatment that includes various wheels fitments, from Type VIII to Type IV models with either BiColor, Black, Silver or Anthracite finishes, a new front lip, new side skirts and rear diffuser as well as ACS stickers all around.
The car will be unveiled in the flesh at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show this week alongside other offerings from the German tuner.
