Believe it or not, the 'madness' behind BMW's new style of doing concepts kicked off back in 2021 with the i Vision Circular prototype unveiled for IAA in Frankfurt. They continued with i Vision Dee last year, and then things really took shape thanks to Vision Neue Klasse and Vision Neue Klasse X.
The latter two concepts have been designed with a holistic approach – the focus is on "reducing the CO2 footprint throughout its life cycle – from development and use through recycling." They will have 30% more range, 30% faster charging, and 25% better efficiency to achieve that. Then what, some might ask?

As far as the Vision Neue Klasse X is concerned, things are pretty straightforward – when it materializes in production, it will act as the successor of the BMW iX3. However, the sedan version is not coming after anything. Instead, it will probably act as the electric counterpart of the G20 seventh-generation BMW 3 Series.

We know the latter just got the second facelift – or LCI as they like to call them – but now that BMW is going down the new design route with the Neue Klasse, they can separate them a little further, unlike is the case with the 5 Series and i5 and 7 Series plus i7, which are essentially almost the same. Anyway, BMW is not necessarily in a hurry to bring the sedan and crossover SUVs to market based on the Vision Neue Klasse concepts.

They are still working to develop and test the sixth-generation BMW eDrive powertrain, the new digital interface that "uniquely engages you by merging real and virtual worlds – projected right onto your windshield," and other immersive technologies. No worries, as the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is ready to alleviate our impatience.

More precisely, this virtual artist, better known as Theottle on social media, has recently resorted to CGI slicing and dicing the Vision Neue Klasse concept to bring to life the upcoming all-electric compact luxury sedan, which may or may not be called BMW i3 because it could easily get confused with the hatchback produced between 2013 and 2022.

His latest behind-the-scenes making-of video embedded below shows how morphed the concept to a series-production all-electric 3 Series or i3 - that's quite a bit of CGI work he had to deploy for something that looks very close to the initial concept, right? The design is obviously controversial, but beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. So, do you like the pixel master's vision (pun intended), who believes the production model will be very close to the Vision Neue Klasse concept, or not?
