The new generation BMW M5 will launch worldwide in the fourth quarter of the year. Usually, this means that pricing will be announced in due course, but as it happens, the Munich auto marque has already released the super sedan's recommended retail price in the United States (and not only).
Without further ado, those interested in the 2025 BMW M5 must cough out at least $119,500 for the new generation. The pricing excludes the $1,175 destination charge. You will also have to consider the often greedy dealer markups and any options you might be interested in.

Where does this put it compared to its predecessor? Since the Munich auto marque deleted it from our local website, we can reference the F90's original MSRP. Back in 2018, when the old M5 touched down in our market, it had an MSRP of $102,600. Thus, the new one is nearly $20,000 more expensive and, if you ask us, not worth the extra Benjamins, as it is slower – in a straight line, anyway.

The F90 BMW M5 took 3.1s to 60 mph (97 kph), aided by its 617 hp (625 ps/460 kW) 4.4L twin-turbo V8. The 626 hp (635 ps/467 kW) M5 CS needed a staggering 2.9s for the sprint. The new one needs 3.4 seconds to deal with it, as despite boasting more oomph, it is significantly heavier.

More than 1,000 pounds (~kg455) separate the two, and the 2025 BMW M5 cannot compensate for the added weight of the electrified gear (motor and battery) with the extra power. Thus, despite enjoying a total of 717 hp (727 ps/535 kW) and a peak torque of 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) produced by its 4.4L V8 twin-turbo and electric motor and channeled to the M xDrive AWD system, it is significantly slower.

We'll delve more into these topics this coming weekend. In the meantime, we will remind you that the new M5 is a plug-in hybrid with a motor integrated into the 8sp M Steptronic transmission. It has a 190 mph (306 kph) top speed with the optional M Driver's Package or 155 mph (250 kph) without ticking this box, and can be driven in the all-quiet mode for around 25 miles (40 km), BMW estimates.

Besides the United States, the automaker has also released the 2025 M5's pricing for other markets. For instance, in the United Kingdom, where book orders are already open and customer deliveries will start in November, the executive super sedan has a recommended retail price of £110,500 (equal to $139,800). So, how much do you think it is in its homeland of Germany? Unless you said €144,000 (RRP), which equals $153,945 at today's exchange rates, you are wrong, as that's how much it will cost you if you live there.
