Unveiled a few hours ago, the second generation BMW X2 has been detailed for several markets, and we now have the pricing and specification of the premium subcompact crossover coupe in Australia, where deliveries will commence in early 204.
The automaker's local branch has announced that shoppers will be treated to the xDrive20i and M35i xDrive versions of the new-gen X2. These have recommended retail prices of AU$75,900 (US$48,695) and AU$92,900 (US$59,600), respectively. The iX2 xDrive30 will join the lineup, with pricing for this electric model to be announced at the end of this month (October 2023).

Choosing the entry-level BMW X2 xDrive20i will get customers a 2.0-liter four-banger making 150 kW (204 ps/201 hp) and kicking out 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. The 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) takes 7.4 seconds, two seconds slower than the X2 M35i xDrive. The sporty flavor brings a different 2.0-liter four-pot, which is rated at 233 kW (317 ps/312 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). Both feature the brand's front-biased all-wheel drive system and a seven-speed DCT.

Standard gear includes the 19-inch alloys, adaptive LED headlights, adaptive M suspension, electric tailgate, illuminated grille, 10.7- and 10.25-inch widescreen display, DAB radio, comfort access and digital key, personal assistant, and head-up display. The base variant also gets a two-zone climate control system, semi-autonomous driving, M Sport pack, remote software updates, heated front seats, wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging pad, and others.

Customers can spruce it up with additional options, such as the pack that adds metallic paintwork (other than BMW Individual's proposals), a panoramic glass roof, a Harman Kardon audio, a heated steering wheel, and massaging front seats. This bundle costs AU$4,700 (US$3,015) or AU$3,700 (US$2,375) when ordered with the Alpine White non-metallic paint finish. The M Sport brakes add another AU$4,900 (US$3,145). Other extras are also available, like the 20-inch alloys, M Sport seats, leather upholstery, and so on.

Paying the premium for the M35i xDrive model will not only get shoppers additional power for quicker off-the-line sprints but also additional gizmos. The list includes the 20-inch wheels, M brakes with blue calipers, specific aerodynamic elements including the M grille, quad exhaust pipes, panoramic sunroof, Vernasca leather upholstery, and a premium sound system from Harman Kardon with twelve speakers.

Unlike the United States, where we won't get the electric derivative known as the iX2, Aussies will be treated to this all-quiet version of the second-gen X2. As we already told you, pricing and specifications will be announced at the end of the month. However, we know that it will be offered in the xDrive30 guise, which combines a pair of electric motors, one at the front and the other at the rear, for a total of 230 kW (313 ps/308 hp) and 494 Nm (364 lb-ft) of torque. It has a WLTP range of 417-449 km (259-279 miles) and needs 5.6 seconds to 100 kph (62 mph).
