Carwow has put together more BMW M850i than we would have imagined, as this is one of their long-term test cars. Today, it's going up against the Audi RS4 Avant.
At first glance, this drag race is completely one-sided. The M850i has a powerful 4.4-liter V8 engine, while the Audi only has a V6. There aren't any advantages to be found in the number of turbochargers or the AWD systems either. They even have quite similar gearboxes.

When it comes to horsepower, the BMW makes 530 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque., which is quite a bit more than the 450 and 600 Nm from the RS4. But due to the size of the vehicle and the number of luxury features stuffed in, the car that's less practical and has fewer doors is also heavier by about 200 kilograms.

Anything can happen in a drag race, though, and we see the two pulling away quite evenly from the line. Once they're doing a bit of speed, the Bimmer whips out its horsepower numbers and tells the Audi to go away. So what about the rolling race? Well, the RS4 is never good at that sort of stuff, so you can't expect much when its rival has several advantages.

At the end of the day, this is one of the more pointless drag races. The price gap between the two is quite large, they're in completely different classes and will attract separate crowds. If you'd like to see more M850i drag racing, check out what happens when it takes on the Tesla Model 3 and Mercedes-AMG E63 S, or the latest Porsche 911 Carrera 4S. That last one is a brutal smashing.

For what it's worth, the RS4 sports wagon isn't slow either. Here it is taking on the Porsche Cayenne Turbo or the BMW M3 CS.
