Apparently, BMW is going back to its roots. The official BMW Group Youtube channel just posted a short video with an E30 M3 enthusiast talking about his car.
“All you gotta do is drive a BMW E30 M3 for a while and you’ll love it” he says and we have to agree. That car comes from a day and age when the Bavarians really infused their cars with character and made them to perfection, the E30 being probably the most loved platform of all time.
His car, of course, isn’t stock. The S14 2.3-liter 6-cylinder engine was bored to 2.5-liters, the suspension was stiffened, new sway bars were installed but the same intake was kept in place alongside the exhaust which, in retrospect and considering the enlarged displacement, might not have been the best decision.
However, the chassis tune and the car the Motorsport division put into making this car endured over time and the M3 is still as enjoyable as ever, even by today’s standards.
Maybe we should’ve said especially today, as the current day and age vehicles aren’t as engaging and fun to drive as they used to. Either way we salute BMW’s initiative and hope to see more videos like this in the future.
