It seems like there are still a few things to sort out on the i8 before the mass production starts, as one unlucky test driver found out this weekend. The car he was driving slipped on what seems like some wet asphalt and hit the guardrails of the A92 Autobahn in Freising, Germany.
The car looks a bit messed up, especially in the rear right quarter where, I’m guessing, the blunt of the impact was felt. Unfortunately, right now, we don’t have any more info but I’m guessing the driver (and the passenger, if there was one) are alright ad the sports car doesn’t look too mashed up.
However, despite this unfortunate accident, I still can’t get over how beautiful this car is, even in this condition. Those butterfly doors make an impression with or without a rear fender. Whilst some are hurrying up to call the driver a jobless man after this fiasco, I’m sure that’s exactly what these guys are paid for: to find out the car’s limits, before a customer does.
