The BMW i3 is here to stay and to do so in a Bavarian way. BMWs are mostly known for their dynamic abilities, the way they can negotiate curves and race out of them, thanks to the rear-wheel-drive that has become of the defining attributes of their cars over the years.
That’s one of the reasons why the M division won’t go all-wheel-drive on their models, apart from the fact that RWD offers the best fun on and off the track. At the same time, BMW also has to evolve and pass into the future, creating more and more diverse cars.
The i3 is their answer to global warming and tightening regulations aiming at protecting our planet from ourselves. The car is all electric, therefore emitting no CO2 into the atmosphere whatsoever. At the same time, the engineers wanted to make it somewhat athletic and engaging to drive. That’s why it’s RWD and pretty fast, especially when compared to its rivals.
