The tuning options you get in the Bimmer world are vastly impressive these days. A while back, when aspirated engines were the standard, you couldn't possibly dream of keeping up with an M5 just by adding various bits and pieces to a 550i. Today, things have changed
Just a little TLC (Tuning, Love and Care) is enough to create real monstrous power outputs out of any turbocharged BMW, peven capable of taking on proper M engines, such as the one on the M5 you’re about to see.
With the incredible ZF 8-speed gearbox at its side, the 550i model in the video below must’ve had some serious tuning done to it, as it was mighty close to the M5 on the short, 400 m (1/4 mile) track. As I later found out, this baby had the xDrive all-wheel-drive system on-board, a Stage 1 BMS tune alongside new down pipes (thanks Mike!).
