Out of the complete line-up of today’s BMW, one particular engine stands out. Of course, we’re talking about the S63 unit developed by the guys from the Motorsport division.

In its various applications, this twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 makes either 555 HP on the E70 X5 M and E71 X6 M or 560 HP on the rest of the big M cars like the M6, M6 Gran Coupe and, of course, the M5. The last one is why we’re here.

Even though it was criticized by many for being either too big, too heavy or too silent, the M5 is still right up there in its segment, leading the pack alongside the much more brutal, AWD E63 AMG from Mercedes-Benz.

With numbers such as 0-62 in 4.4 seconds and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque on the rear wheels, it’s kind-of hard to consider it anything else but the leader of the pack. One lucky guy from Germany had one of these beauties on his hands for a couple of days.

Of course, the man decided to test it in every possible way, including on the world famous Autobahns that have no speed limit in the European country (what a dream). Fortunately for us, he grabbed his camera while doing all these tests and we’re here to show you the result. Check it out!
