A lot of people are asking these days "What does the new M5 need?". What does the new M5 need for what? We think it's a formidable machine with an unexpected level of performance. However, Turner Motorsports thinks the F10 could use a new exhaust.
As usual at Turner Motorsports, as soon as the F10 M5 was available, the owner, ex race-car driver and gear head Will Turner took one for a spin in order to find areas where he thinks improvements might be possible. This was one of them.
"The F10 M5 is clearly one of the fastest, best performing BMWs ever made. It's deceivingly fast - the first thing this car needs is some exhaust noise to go with all this power," said Will after his first encounter with the car.
The race-inspired exhaust they created removes the muffler boxes and replaces them with 304 4" (102 mm) stainless steel tubes. The exhaust tips have the same measurements and fit the rear bumper diffuser perfectly.
Of course, this exhaust is not only changing the car's sound, it's also giving it 14 extra HP and 19 lb-ft (26 Nm) of torque more than the car's stock 560 HP and 501 lb-ft (680 Nm) of torque.
