Most people would agree that BMWs these days are really expensive. Well, compared to the prices they used to have a while back, the differences aren’t all that big but maybe the times have changed.
However, if you think Bimmers are expensive in the US, you should really check out the prices the Germans are asking for similar cars in other countries.
Thailand, for example, is one of those countries, alongside other Asian countries like China and, especially, Singapore. That’s where prices really go out of hand, even though the entire line-up isn’t even available.
That’s another thing that surprised us when we first saw this car hailing from Bangkok. BMW doesn’t sell the 550i model in the Asian country. The only three 5 Series models that you can buy over there are the 520i, 528i and 520d with no V8 option.
Even so, the car in the pictures seems to be sporting the N63 4.4-liter V8 that we’ve grown to love, making 450 HP and 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque and wears some nice, clean looking wheels.
For those of you interested in adding a bit of exclusivity to your ride, you should know that the rims come from Modulare Wheels, measure 21x9 inches up front and 21x10.5 inches at the back. They’re called B18 and have a brushed aluminum finish.
Since this is Thailand, we think the wheels alone might’ve been a small fortune. Couple that with the carbon fibre splitter up front, clear glass taillights, boot lid spoiler, Brembo brakes and the diffuser at the back and we’re looking at a rich man’s ride here...
