BMW Canada Will Host a Comparison Event

BMW's Canadian branch will be hosting some events consisting of test driving and car comparison, called the BMW 3 Series Comparison Drive Events. There will be five BMW 3 Series models, including the 323i, 328i, 328i xDrive, 335i xDrive and 335d, pitted against Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4 and Lexus IS.

The events will take place in three locations, each with its own date: April 17 to 19, at the British Columbia Driving Centre in Vancouver, May 8 to 10 at the Attraction Hippiques in Montreal and May 29 to 31 and June 5 to 7, at the Downsview Park in Toronto.

This BMW hosted event will be open for free to the general public and will only require an online signup from which the host will choose the persons to receive the invitations. Therefore this event is not actually an open-door per-se. The chosen people for this event will be able to come along with a friend. For the competition, each canditate will be allocated two hours, during which they can test and compare the available vehicles.

The BMW 3 Series is a compact luxury car that's been on production since May 1975. The vehicle has been produced in five different generations with five different body styles. Accounting for almost 40% of BMW's sales worldwide in 2005, the 3 Series is BMW's best selling vehicle. The 3 Series has also been annually on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best section for 18 times, from 1992 until 2009. The 3 Series E90 was announced “Best New Sports Sedan” in the Canadian Car of the Year awards. A new 3 Series is expected in 2012 and rumors have it that BMW may include hybrid drivetrain technology on the revised vehicles.
