Many people expected BMW to bring nothing new and original to the 2 Series' interior next year. However, we have the latest spyshots taken from the sidelines of the Nurburgring, where the car was testing, which reveal that's not the case.
The first thing we notice is the steering wheel. Compared to the F20 1 Series, this has a sporty and at the same time airy design. The gear stick for the manual box is also new and reflect a completely different attitude. The one on the 1 Series has a slanted top to mimic a relaxed driving position, while this has a flat top for people who constantly grab the stick.
Other than that, it's very similar to the hatchback, though that already had one of the best built interiors of its class.
This test vehicle already has Alcantara seats with blue stitching and other small blue touches to the air vents that match the exterior paintjob. These interior features and the metallic trim around the side air vents are the same as on the M135i, leading us to believe this is the M235i.
