A long time has passed since the first bits and pieces of information about the new BMW 1 Series M began coming together, and we still haven't got the entire picture yet. Earlier on Wednesday however, the veil has been lifted, revealing the latest goodie coming from BMW’s M division.
Although the official photos showing the car and the information to go with them have not yet been released, the first video presenting the uncloaked model was presented today on BMW's YouTube channel.
As you will see in the video below, it's all about the machines with this new beefed up 1 Series. The result of some very hard work of BMW Motorsport engineers and some well coordinated robotic arms movement, the 1 Series M will come packing a twin-turbo six-cylinder engine developing 345 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft of torque. The unit will be paired to an M-DCT transmission as standard, but a manual transmission version will be on the counter as well.
When finally launched, the M1 will ride on standard 18 inch 5 spoke wheels (the size will be the minimum offered to go with the M1) or, as an option, on 18 inch Competition wheels. It will boast M-designed side vents and side sills, with the bulged hood of the car giving the vehicle a more aggressive look.
The model has already met some of its possible future customers at a very special and closed test drive held in the middle of November.
Even with this new video hitting the web, it's not yet clear when the official specs (and by that we mean mostly the performance figures) will be released, but we'll get back on the story as soon as they become available. In the meanwhile, take a look at the film below.
