While the second-generation Maserati GranTurismo was unveiled back in 2022, it wasn’t until last year that it was finally put into production, which is why there aren’t that many of them out and about in traffic just yet.
Like its predecessor, the new GranTurismo, and its GranCabrio sibling, are beautiful grand tourers, although unlike before, you can get them with both internal combustion engine power, as well as battery-electric power (the Folgore).

The latter uses three electric motors, combining for a total of 751 horsepower and 996 lb-ft (1,350 Nm) of torque. This is enough for a zero to 60 mph acceleration time of just 2.7 seconds, and a top speed of 202 mph (325 kph). As for the range, it’s got an EPA rating of 242 miles for the GranTurismo, and 233 miles for the GranCabrio.

Speaking of convertible exotics, what we have here is a bespoke GranCabrio Folgore, crafted by the carmaker’s Fuoriserie program in order to celebrate the iconic Tignanello vineyard. For that reason alone, the car is dubbed ‘Folgore Tignanello’.

This commission, created exclusively for Marchesi Antinori (an Italian wine company), will be auctioned off come July 14 in California at Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for ‘All Gala’. The inspiration for this bespoke GranCabrio Folgore came from the Tignanello vineyard and its label – unchanged for half a century and still recognizable, just like Maserati’s Trident.

Visually, the car comes with a unique Terra di Tignanello paint, which is a chestnut color reminiscent of the vineyard’s soil. There’s also a coppery burgundy in there, reminiscent of the central red shades of the vineyard’s barriques. Meanwhile, the rims and calipers come in matte and gloss black, respectively, to go with the black soft top, copper emblems and glossy copper Maserati logo.

Moving on to the interior, that’s where you’ll find the leather upholstery, embellished with a multi-material silver and burgundy ribbed weave, which recalls the pattern of the rows of vines on the Tignanello hill. Other highlights include the dark briar wood accents and the custom embroidery.

“This collaboration with Marchesi Antinori gives us the opportunity to epitomize the essence of Bespoke production, the flagship of our Maserati Fuoriserie customization program,” said Maserati design boss, Klaus Busse.

“It is designed to create ad-hoc experiences for Trident customers, by producing tailor-made cars that can make the driving experience even more sublime and distinctive, the way only an outstanding wine can at the table. Telling a story of Italian excellence is a source of pride for us and serves as constant stimulus for our work, which with Bespoke production aspires to create something absolutely dedicated and inimitable.”

It’s safe to say that all proceeds from the sale of this unique GranCabrio Folgore will be donated to charity, although we do look forward to learning just how much this bespoke Maserati can be worth to the right buyer.
