Unfortunately, Honda's cool new EVs are only for China – they debuted at Auto China 2024 in April, and the first new models will go on sale before the end of the current year.
The Japanese automaker only has the upcoming $47,400 GM-based Honda Prologue all-electric model on sale in America alongside the electrified $32,895 Accord Hybrid and $34,350 CR-V Hybrid models, but over in China, they are launching an entire series of electric models dubbed the Ye family. The gala introduction took place at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, and the new range of EVs will join the existing e:N lineup that is already available for purchase in China.

The first two models in the Ye family are the Ye P7 and Ye S7, with the pair developed on a newly developed EV platform available in now-classic configurations – single motor with RWD and dual-motor with AWD, each tailored towards a different handling response. Both models seem pretty much the same vehicle with just a different fascia, but more importantly, the Asian brand also has plans to launch a future production model based on the accompanying Ye GT concept car.

The latter has a fastback sedan profile and comes with interesting design traits like a pointy nose, sleek headlights, as well as a low and wide profile. There are no specifications for the technical details, but Honda claimed it created the EV "to provide the ultimate driving experience." As it turns out, many folks want to see these models, especially the GT, come out of China for a worldwide introduction, especially if they weren't baked with a Honda joint venture from the country.

That includes the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, and one pixel master, in particular, has devised the perfect recipe to make the Ye series interesting around the world - this virtual artist, better known as Theottle on social media, has recently resorted to CGI slicing and dicing Honda's new Ye GT Concept to bring the popular S2000 roadster back from the dead.

More precisely, in his latest behind-the-scenes making-of video embedded below, the CGI expert takes the old-school naturally-aspirated Honda S2000 and throws on top of it the skin of the Honda Ye GT Concept with loads of digital adaptations to make it fit the compact and low-slung profile of the two-door convertible model.

Sadly, the author doesn't say anything about what could power the reborn roadster. Instead, he just comes up with a different name – Z2000 and asks the million-dollar question: "Do you think Honda should resurrect the S2000 as an electric roadster to rival the MG Cyberster?" Perhaps, but wouldn't it be even better if there's also an ICE option to make it a rival for the Mazda MX-5 Miata, including in America?
