Italy is one of the top superyacht-building hubs in the world, with shipyards like Cantieri di Pisa, which have been around for decades. We are fortunate to still have vintage yachts from these reputable shipyards in operation today. One of them has stayed with its original owner for more than three decades.
Luxury yacht owners are notorious for either collecting luxury toys or moving from one toy to the next with incredible ease. Those who hold on to a certain boat for decades are a rare example of loyalty in the extravagant world of floating mansions. However, classic and vintage yacht connoisseurs see themselves as a different breed; it's not uncommon for them to invest in old, sometimes abandoned beauties and keep them in excellent shape for many years.

Ixia only knew one owner during its 34 years of life. The first man who bought it kept it for more than three decades until this year when Ixia started a new chapter under different ownership. It can't be easy to part with a vintage boat that's been part of your life for so long, but Ixia's excellent condition is a testament to its original owner's dedication over the years. This isn't a yacht that was left semi-abandoned and in need of TLC. It benefitted from preventive maintenance, it was safely kept in a dedicated shed each winter, and it was refitted as recently as 2021.

Some of the most recent upgrades include new service batteries, an LED lighting system, and a stabilizer. The generators passed the 2,000-hour inspection, and the galley is fully equipped with high-quality appliances. Twin MTU engines enable smooth cruising at more than 24 knots (27.6 mph). In terms of accommodation, this 114-footer (34.7 meters) can welcome up to eight guests across four cabins, with additional quarters for a five-person crew.

Ixia's interiors might seem a bit old-fashioned, although they exude a certain nostalgic charm. After paying $1.6 million (€1,5 million) for this yacht, the new owner might be willing to pump more money into Ixia in order to refresh its looks.

This vintage yacht spent its entire life in Italy and is 100% Italian. It bears the signature of the prestigious Spadolini Design Studio and is part of Cantieri di Pisa's Akhir 35S series. This unusual name has become synonymous with the shipyard's success. Back in the '60s, the Italian shipyard started naming its models after stars in the Eridanus constellation, and the Akhir series (named after the brightest star) became the most successful line to this day.

Ixia looks both vintage and contemporary. It boasts modern amenities such as a jacuzzi, a decent-sized beach club, an open-air barbecue, and multiple entertainment areas. The elegant silhouette makes for an eye-catching appearance anywhere it goes, also hinting at its vintage origins. Hopefully, the yacht's second owner will care for it at least as much as the original one and keep it operating for another three decades.
