On-line sales are really becoming an important part of the economy, but items traded in this way are many times placed in the low price category. However, one of the UK’s leading vehicle auction company, BCA (British Car Auction) has released new data on online sales, revealing that there are buyers who are ready to vast amounts of money to buy luxury vehicles and supercars over the Internet.
BCA’s hottest online sale in 2010 was a Rolls Royce Phantom, which retailed for GBP 195,000 ($303,000), with the buyer using a detailed catalogue listing and a set of images for the purchase. BCA sold about 100,000 vehicles online last year, ranging from really cheap cars to the aforementioned vehicles, using its Live Online and Bid Now, Bid Now and Buy Now services.
"Our customers are comfortable to bid these huge sums with us online because they know we will describe the vehicles fairly and accurately and make sure the deal is concluded successfully, arranging transport and delivery if required” said BCA spokesman, Tim Naylor. “Buying anything online and unseen is all about confidence in the system and the quality in the service.”
