Renault-Nissan teamed up with Indian automotive producer and announced a low cost vehicle for emerging markets four years ago, and it is now time to meet the vehicle ahead of its debut, which is scheduled for the New Delhi Auto Expo.
The vehicle is 752mm long, 1312mm wide and 1650mm tall and comes with a boxy appearance. However, it does try to hide this using certain design details.
The Bajaj RE60 is powered by a 200cc petrol engine that delivers 20 hp. This moves the 400 kg ( 882 lbs) of the car to a top speed of 70 km/h (43 mph), while returning a fuel efficiency of 35 km/l (2.8 l/100 km / 82.3 mpg US / 98.9 mpg UK) and emitting 60 grams of CO2 per km.
Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj told The Economic Times that Renault and Nissan will make a decision on getting further into the project, with one possibility being for them to rebadge the little car.
The vehicle will be released on the Indian market later this year, with pricing is expected to sit in the €1700-2800 ($2215-3650) area.
