Over in Australia, the Pathfinder originally started at $50,490 for the 2023 model year ST 2WD grade and $57,640 for the ST-L 4WD. For 2024, the folks at Nissan discontinued all trims except for the TI 4WD and TI-L 4WD, which are rather pricey.
72,490 and 82,490 kangaroo bucks, that is. Thankfully for prospective customers, Nissan has finally acknowledged that it's too much for its target audience. To this effect, Japan's third-largest automaker confirmed the return of the ST-L grade in two flavors, as in front- and all-wheel drive.

ST-L 2WD and ST-L 4WD join another entrant for 2024, that being the TI 2WD. How much of a difference in pricing are we talking about? As per the attached release, the updated manufacturer suggested retail prices are $59,670, $64,170, and $67,990. Said release further highlights that the range-topping TI-L 4WD will drop in Q4 2024.

Regardless of grade and options, the Pathfinder comes with a 3.5-liter V6 exclusively. The direct-injection sixer develops a stout 202 kW at 6,400 revolutions per minute and 340 Nm at 4,800 revolutions per minute, which are 271 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque in US English vernacular. By comparison, the North American Pathfinder makes 284 ponies and 259 pound-feet.

The ST-L is anything but a spartan grade, for it comes with plenty of standard kit. Nissan further sweetens the deal with a braked towing capacity of 2.7 tons or just under 6,000 pounds. As ever, the only transmission available is a nine-speed auto. 59,670 kangaroo bucks or 39,705 freedom eagles at current exchange rates also gets you nine airbags, the Digital Around View Monitor system with moving object detection, and Nisan ProPILOT.

Eight seats, 18-inch alloys, High Beam Assist, LED exterior lighting, roof rails, and a powered tailgate also need to be mentioned, along with a 7.0-inch TFT display, a 10.8-inch HUD, and a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Tri-zone air conditioning and heated front seats are joined by Nissan Intelligent Mobility, which is a driving assistance and safety suite that includes Emergency Braking and Junction Assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection. Nissan Intelligent Mobility further comprises Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Blind Sport Warning and Intervention, Driver Attention Alert, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Intervention.

Nine airbag modules are standard, of which the most interesting of the bunch is the far-side airbag located between the front seats. ANCAP last tested the Pathfinder for model year 2022, which is the first year of the fifth-generation Pathfinder. It's listed with five stars, and this rating is backed up by the Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the United States.

Nissan moved 1,401 units of the Pathfinder in Australia last year, whereas the marque's best-selling nameplate in this part of the world remains the X-Trail with 12,861 deliveries for the 12-month period. As for the worst seller, that would be the Z sports car with 449 examples delivered in 2023.
