Toyota UK revealed increased sales for 2013, with the Auris, RAV4 and Verso models standing out from the pack and delivering particularly strong results for each of their class.
Built at the Burnaston plant in the UK, the redesigned Toyota Auris hatch pushed the local sales up by almost two thirds (64.2 percent) compared to 2012, representing the largest year-on-year sales increase of any compact hatchback. Moreover, the new Auris Hybrid just became Britain’s best-selling hybrid model, securing nearly 40% of all Auris sales.
The new RAV4 was another strong Toyota seller in 2013, finishing the year with 78 percent more vehicles sold compared to 2012, thanks to its sharp new styling, better interior and the economic but frisky 2-liter D-4D engine.
Last but not least, the family-friendly compact MPV Verso received a midlife refresh which ramped up its appeal again and made it achieve an almost 20 percent sales increase over 2012.
Overall, the year ended with Toyota selling a total of 88,653 passenger cars, representing a 3.9 percent market share.
