Audi UK today announced official pricing for the brand new S3 Saloon, a new arrival to the S range that's sure to be a hit. We say that because at £33,240, it's only slightly more expensive than the VW Golf R.
But before we go too much into details about the price, let's talk about what's on offer. Just like all the other S3 versions, power comes from a new 2.0-liter TFSI engine rated at 300 PS and 380 Nm of torque. With the manual gearbox, 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.3 seconds, which is quite brisk. However, the six-speed S tronic twin-clutch is even faster at 4.9 seconds.
As far as rivals go, the one big one is the BMW M135i, which costs from £30,570, but only if you opt for the three-door without xDrive (Audi S3 has quattro as standard) and with a manual. However, you can't have the M135i with xDrive in Britain.
We think this quattro performance sedan will be a hit in Britain, but we'll have to wait until March 2014 for deliveries to find out.
