The Ingolstadt-based automaker is obviously celebrating no less than 25 years of feisty RS 4 Avant models. It sure wants an arm and a leg for the collector's edition in the UK - £115,880 (OTR), which is more than $148k at the current exchange rates.
Depending on your point of view, that means you're either lucky or sad that Audi Sport doesn't offer the RS 4 Avant in the United States, where only the RS 3 saloon, RS 5 Coupe or Sportback, and RS 6 Avant are on offer among others – from $62,300, $79,600 or $79,900, and $125,800, respectively. Yep, note that the Audi RS 4 Avant edition 25 years special edition costs in the UK a lot more than a larger and more powerful V8-toting Audi RS 6 Avant in America!

However, before thinking (again) that the world is in ruins and the automakers want to build gold castles on top of it, let's remember that Audi specifically reveals that its RS 4 Avant edition 25 years is a collector's edition with just 50 examples coming from the Old Continent to the British Islands. Obviously, this anniversary special edition has an exclusive design and pays tribute to the quarter of a century of RS 4 Avant heritage.

As the new performance flagship in the series, this limited edition comes with enhanced driving dynamics and exclusive interior and exterior details and is available in Audi's iconic Imola Yellow finish. More so, the power output of the 2.9-liter TFSI twin-turbo V6 has surged to 470 PS or 464 horsepower – which is still less than what the BMW M3 Touring has on offer. The latter is a Competition-only affair with xDrive and 503 hp, in case you forgot.

Anyway, Audi claims they established the whole notion of a luxury performance station wagon in the 1990s with the Audi Avant RS2 and Audi S6 plus. They moved on to create the first RS model from quattro GmbH (now Audi Sport GmbH) in 1999, and so came to life the B5-generation RS4 Avant (between 1999 and 2001, RS models like RS4 were written without a space).

Now, thanks to the increase in power and torque to 600 Nm (443 lb-ft), which is still lower than on the M3 Touring, which has 650 Nm or 479 lb-ft, the RS 4 Avant edition 25 years sprints to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds, 0.4-seconds faster than a standard model, while the top speed is now a higher 186 mph. New standard features include the RS sports suspension pro, Pirelli P Zero Corsa high-performance tires on machined 20-inch alloy wheels in matt palladium, plus an additional set of P Zero Trofeo RS semi-slick tires with sensors and the Pirelli Track Adrenaline system.

The latter are exclusively shod on exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels dressed in matte black, and customers can select Nardo Grey, Mythos Black, and the Audi Exclusive Imola Yellow as exterior colors. Beware, though, as the latter two have different pricing - £116,555 and £119,180, respectively!
