The Audi R8 GT Spyder is a truly epic convertible, because it provides 560 horsepower, which is 35 more than the regular V10 Spyder, while also offering one of the best chassis money can but in an open-top supercar. It’s also a full 85 kilograms (187.39 lb) slimmer than the already toned regular version, thanks in part to the extensive use of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic.
The R8 GT Spyder dropped by the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show this week, in time for its US market debut next year. Only 333 of these will ever be made, and Audi says 90 are coming to the American shores.
The R8 GT Spyder is capable of two very impressive figures: a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 317 km/h (196.97 mph).
