The Audi Q6 e-tron is inching closer to debut. The brand’s reps claim the model marks the start of the largest model offensive in Audi’s history. The Germans are progressively shifting to an all-electric lineup, eventually phasing out the entire ICE-powered lineup.
Audi has been working on the model for the past two years and they have been testing prototypes wrapped in camouflage for almost just as long. The prototypes show up in the photo gallery just made public by the carmaker as well.

The images show the vehicles displaying a large faux grille in bright white, very uncommon for a model, regardless of the powertrain. It is flanked by narrow LED headlights, while thesecond-generation OLED taillights are at the opposite end, united by a full-width LED light bar. The setup is accompanied by a diffuser, but this one is in the body color.

What draws the attention just as much as the grille in white are the wheels in the same shade. But it is very unlikely these will make it to production.

The Porsche Macan EV twin will be built on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which has already made it to its final stages of development. Audi has developed the 800-Volt architecture in partnership with Porsche. It allows for charging speeds up to 270 kW. The energy will be stored in a 100-kWh battery pack, which will be able to charge from 0 to 80% in under 30 minutes.

Audi will also build a sportier version of the model, the SQ6 e-tron. The German carmaker will build standard SUV variants as well as Coupe SUVs. The prototypes showing up in the photos sport a decending roofline and a tilted rear window, which means they should be the former variant.

The lineup will start with the version powered by two electric motors, developing a total of the 370 horsepower (375 PS) or 391 horsepower (396 PS) with boost engaged) and sporting a range of approximately 600 kilometers (373 miles) on the WLTP cycle.

Sitting at the opposite end of the lineup, the SQ6 e-tron will come with 503 horsepower (510 PS) with boost mode on, enough to hit 100 kph (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds.

The Q6 e-tron is the first fully electric car to roll off the production line in Ingolstadt, which is being converted into an all-electric cars production center. The model in both guises is set to make its official debut toward the end of the year, with the sales kicking off in the first quarter of 2024.

Considering the similarity in the name, the Q6 e-tron will eventually force the Q5 SUV into retirement. The model will come to fight BMW’s iX and Tesla’s Model Y.
