Audi Launches eBrochures

Having experienced a great deal of success with the electronic brochures featured at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, the Germans from Audi are now planning a major shift in the way they advertise their products.

Having in mind the great benefits of an electronic format (an easier way for the customer to find out what he needs, connected information about the models and, as a bonus, the opportunity of saving both money and trees by giving up paper), Audi will partner with Digital Collateral to launch the 2011 editions of the electronic brochures.

The technology works in a very simple way. By using a Digital Collateral platform, smartphone owners can scan 2-dimensional "QR" barcodes placed alongside each of the models. The codes adds the model's brochure to an online library, to be viewed from a phone or any computer.

The tow partners have also thought of those who still don't own smartphones, and will offer them the possibility to enjoy the same advantages by sending an SMS to populate the personal online library.

"Audi has always sought to deliver a superior experience through superior technology. Digital Collateral's software allows us to reach more consumers more efficiently, while simultaneously reducing the costs and environmental impact associated with delivering the information our customers want," said Scott Keogh, Audi marketing chief.

"We look forward to finding new ways to use the Digital Collateral platform as the season progresses."

The system will be introduced this year at all major auto shows in the US starting this year. Audi hopes to cut the size of printed material used at auto shows by as much as 90 percent after adopting the system.
