The fate of the Fisker Atlantic (which is getting a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, sourced from BMW) seems to be steadily improving, as the automaker has secured an additional $100-million of the $150-million they need in total to get production of their smaller offering underway - just the $100-million may be enough for them to get started, though. Their problems arose when the Department of Energy (DOE) refused to give them access to the other half of a $529-million government loan.
Henrik Fisker is very pleased with the news, saying: “The latest financing arrangements mark an important milestone for Fisker. We are now poised to invest in the next generation of extended-range battery electric luxury cars and another chapter in the fast-paced expansion of Fisker Automotive, and are demonstrating our commitment to long-term success.”
Furthermore, probably realizing that it is very difficult to get started and do everything right on your own, in modern day car manufacturing, they are looking to join forces with other automakers, for parts sharing, in order to reduce their costs, while also assuring consistently good quality parts for their cars.
