The 101-year-old British sports car marque announced it will unveil two exclusive new special editions for North American markets this week, at the 84th New York International Auto Show. One of them is a motorsport-honed V8 Vantage GT, while the other is a DB9 in Carbon Edition flavor.
With a starting price of $99,000, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT is available in either Coupe or Roadster form. Pop the bonnet of this special edition British sports car you'll find a 4.7-liter V8 mill rated at 430 horsepower and 361 lb-ft (489 Nm) of torque, virtually the same power plant that powers the standard Vantage S model.
Both the Coupe and Roaster are offered with either six-speed manual or seven-speen Sportshift II automated manual transmissions. Either gearbox delivers a top speed of 190 miles per hour and a 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds.
As for aesthetics, the Vantage GT is styled to celebrate Aston Martin's sporting heritage and motorsport feats, drawing direct inspiration from the Vantage GT4 race car. Customers can choose out of five eye-catching exterior themes: Alloro Green, Jet Black, Skyfall Silver, Mariana Blue and Speedway White.
The car also benefits from graphite painted diamond-turned alloy wheels alongside black headlamp bezels, side window surrounds and textured tailpipe finishers.
On the inside you're greeted by a range of machined carbon fiber sill plaques, black magnesium paddle-shifts (or carbon fiber gearshift surround for the manual), Plisse Alcantara seat and door inserts and a unique seat trim pattern.
The Aston Martin DB9 Carbon Edition isn't as visually dramatic as the Vantage GT. Led by two distinctive specifications (Carbon Black and Carbon White), this model emphasizes the timeless sporting yet comfortable nature of British grand tourers.
Both the Carbon Black and Carbon White DB9s are equipped with carbon fiber side strakes, rear lamp infills and black meshes. The carbon theme can be further extended with a few optional extras like carbon fibre front splitter, rear diffuser and mirror caps. 10-spoke diamond-turned alloy wheels with either silver or satin black finishes complete the exterior look of the vehicle.
Our purely subjective pick is the Carbon White DB9 because the carbon fiber and dark elements contrast strongly yet gracefully against the Stratus White exterior paint.
Under the nicely sculpted bodywork there lies a 6.0-liter V12 delivering 510 horsepower and 457 lb-ft (619 Nm) of torque. Inside, a strong black styling theme with a choice of accent colours showcases carbon fibre details and black hardware. The DB9 Carbon Edition is priced from $199,995 RRP.
First North American deliveries of both Aston Martin special editions will commence this fall.
