After BMW’s M division recently announced that it will introduce a new range of “warm” vehicles that will be slotted between the standard and the “M” ones, Mercedes’s AMG may be looking to present a sports car under its own brand later in the current year.
According to Motor Trend, this will be some sort of a “baby SLS”, wearing the SLV codename. The vehicle could use a modified version of the SLS platform and compete against vehicles like the Porsche Boxster/Cayman.
This contradicts previous reports, which indicated that the vehicle would use the SLC designation and compete against the Porsche 911. This means that we’ll have to see which one of the pathways is true. The first seems to make more sense, as it would differentiate the SLS and its baby brother better.
