We already knew Alpina's latest toys are for deep-pocketed enthusiasts. After all, even some older models tend to cost a lot of money, so it is no surprise that the new 2024 B3 GT Sedan, 2024 B3 GT Touring, and 2024 B4 GT Gran Coupe are also costly.
Introduced about a month ago, the new Alpina B3 GT and B4 GT are now getting ready for their launch in Australia, where the company has confirmed the local pricing and specifications. Without further ado, you will have to cough out AU$181,900 (equaling US$121,226) for the B3 GT Sedan, AU$184,900 (US$123,225) for the B3 GT Touring, and AU$189,900 (US$126,557) for the B4 GT Gran Coupe, plus on-road costs.
All three models feature a 3.0L inline-six engine with bi-turbos that produces 34 hp (34 ps/25 kW) more than the previous one. The latest Alpinas enjoy 521 horsepower (529 ps/389 kW) and 538 pound-foot (730 Nm) of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission made by ZF delivers the thrust to the variable all-wheel drive system. The cars also feature an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, and Alpina says they return 10.5 l/100 km (22.4 mpg US) on the WLTP cycle and emit 239 g/km of CO2.
Reaching 100 kph (62 mph) takes 3.4 seconds in the B3 GT Sedan and 3.5 seconds in the B3 GT Touring and B4 GT Gran Coupe, representing a two-tenth of a second improvement across the range over their predecessors. The first one has a 308 kph (191 mph) top speed, and the latter two top out at 305 kph (190 mph). Alpina also revised the chassis and suspension setup, as well as the variable sports steering, so the new models can attack corners more aggressively.
Alpina's latest B3 GT and B4 GT sport new front spoilers with small canards, a splitter, and a fresh rear diffuser with a glossy black look, matching the tailpipes. The revisions improve the aerodynamic balance. They ride on new 20-inch alloy with the same unmistakable design finished in Oro Tecnico, and the iconic Alpina Blue and Alpina green exterior paint finishes are available next to other hues from BMW Individual's portfolio.
Additional Oro Tecnico details are visible inside, where the new Alpinas also get Lavalina leather upholstery, anodized aluminum paddle shifters, piping, GT lettering on the door sills, a new sports steering wheel, a special plaque on the center console displaying the serial number that was also replicated in the engine bay, and a few other bits and bobs.
In their home market of Germany, the new Alpina B3 GT can be ordered from €101,700 (US$109.281/AU$163,960), whereas the Alpina B3 GT Touring and the Alpina B4 GT Gran Coupe kick off at €102,900 (US$110,570/AU$165,894) and €105,100 (US$112,934/AU$169,441), respectively.
