Everybody who's a diehard fan of the automotive industry loves the Japanese automaker Mazda because of two things – its audaciousness to introduce rotary engine-powered models and their love letter to the roadster, aka the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
However, regular folks have a different passion – the Mazda CX-5 compact crossover SUV, their inaugural model with the 'Kodo' styling language, and the first one to implement the full range of Skyactiv technologies. It was introduced in 2012 and has remained their best-selling nameplate since, enabling Mazda to bring out to market an onslaught of crossover SUVs.

For example, below it in the American lineup sits the $25k 2024 Mazda CX-30; alongside it resides the locally-produced Mazda CX-50 (they have almost the same MSRPs - $29,300 and $30,300, respectively), while above it is now the all-new 2024 CX-90 three-row CUV and the two-row CX-70 mid-size crossover SUV. Curiously, the latter is more expensive than the former at $40,445 compared to $37,845.

Anyway, folks are starting to get impatient regarding the CX-5 best-seller nowadays – it was introduced in 2017, and recently, the rumor mill found out from an internal document that alongside the CX-50 Hybrid (most likely borrowing tech from Toyota), it will also sit an all-new third-generation Mazda CX-5 Hybrid with an internally-developed electrified powertrain.

In fact, the next CX-5 may also get a fresh new range of engines because Toyota, Mazda, and Subaru recently announced a team-up for new internal combustion engines that will also be compatible with carbon-neutral fuels. However, of course, the main attraction for a third-generation CX-5 will remain the Hybrid option – an answer to the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and especially the Honda CR-V Hybrid in North America.

Naturally, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is keen on bringing out to the ultra-popular compact crossover SUV party the next iteration of Mazda's CX-5 in Hybrid format, way before the official OEM presentation. For example, the Halo oto channel on YouTube provides fresh automotive info corroborated with their virtual designs; now, more new CGI ideas about the upcoming CX-5 exist.

Initially, the channel's resident pixel master got inspired by the EX-6 concept and the Arata crossover prototype revealed at Auto China 2024 in Beijing – especially the Arata design study for an all-electric crossover. As such, the exterior look of the proposed CX-5 is very close to what the simple yet modern Arata has already showcased officially. But now they're back with a hypothetical, unofficial look at the cockpit, too. Of course, there are also some nice, ritzy hues to go along with it.

Remember, though, we should always take all these renderings with a pinch of salt because no one really knows if Mazda will actually use the Arata as a preview for any of its upcoming models, let alone for the worldwide acclaimed CX-5. Hopefully, though, we will soon start seeing prototypes on the road to gauge some of the changes from under the heavy layers of camouflage.
