HRE Performance Wheels, one of the most essential American aftermarket wheel producers, has been trying to set the industry standard since 1978. However, they are not afraid to use all the latest technologies, even if they embrace tradition – kind of like what Ferrari did with the new 12Cilindri.
First and foremost, you have to appreciate Ferrari's wacky sense of self-righteous humor. They are not afraid to laud themselves as they know very well that they are one of the most desirable companies worldwide. Think about some of its model names – Ferrari Enzo (after the founder), Ferrari Roma (after Italy's capital), Ferrari LaFerrari (after, well, you can insert just about anything there), and now the fresh Ferrari 12Cilindri.
That name is pretty much universal – this is a Ferrari with 12 cylinders. In a world overrun by worries that we can't escape our self-inflicted climate-destroyed fate, this Italian company dared to send any and all electrified aids down the drain and didn't even rely on turbos for its 6.5-liter V12 mill that's been around since the Enzo. So, the 6.5-liter, 65-degree unit known as Ferrari's F140, which has been around since 2002, now has 830 ps or 819 naturally aspirated horsepower, plus 500 pound-feet of torque at 7,250 rpm.
By the way, the redline is set at a howling 9,500 rpm right after the engine hits the maximum power at 9,250 rpm. I personally wonder how many owners will even dare to come close to it without changing gears… Anyway, since there's a new Ferrari in town – of course, they presented the 812 successor in both coupe and Spider form in Miami, the United States of America – the aftermarket realm is ready and willing to consider improvements.
Everyone seems to love the Daytona-esque styling, which is a breath of fresh air, indeed, but not everybody has a good opinion about the chosen wheel style as some fans think it's a bit too modern for the Ferrari brand. No worries, the good folks over at HRE Performance Wheels admit they couldn't help it – so they dropped a trio of renderings of Italy's latest whiz kid featuring the V12 beast under the hood and HRE 522M, P104SC, and HX101 'shoes' on its feet.
Obviously, when there's enough choice, there's also a big discussion brewing on the Internet. As such, HRE's fans weren't unanimous in their choice. Some believe the latest Ferrari looks too much like the 2024 Nissan Z, but a lot of them weren't malicious and just covered the subject of aftermarket wheels. As such, some of them went with the OEM+ looks of the big-spoke 522M variant; others believed the all-black HX101 would go perfectly with the crimson body for contrast and also pair perfectly with the black top.
Interestingly, nobody said anything about the P104SC, which, in our eyes, actually looks like the most traditional option from the bunch (including the official wheels). So, what do you think, and which is your favorite?
