As far as subcompact crossovers are concerned, the original Honda HR-V from 1998 that arrived in Europe and Japan is widely considered among the first representatives of the breed. However, someone else better defined the category a little later.
More precisely, the release of yet another Nissan product marked the true beginning of the sector's development in Europe and North America. Today, just about everyone has a member of the family in the subcompact sector – MINI Countryman, Buick Encore, Chevy Trax, Jeep Renegade, and more.

Back to the Nissan Juke, unlike the Qashqai, which was quite sensibly designed, the little Japanese CUV, which debuted in March 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show, has always been a very quirky apparition. Its design is dominated by quirky stuff – the bulging wheel arches, the body's high waistline with a small greenhouse echoing the look of a racing helmet's visor, plus 'coke bottle styling' cues adorning the front fascia.

Starting a trend is always easy when you're sold all around the world, and the first-generation Juke reached the far corners of Earth, from Europe to Thailand and from North America to China or Japan. With great (sales and market trend) power comes great responsibility – but above all comes great rivalry. The subcompact crossover sector flourished with numerous models from the competition by the time Nissan switched generations from the F15 to the F16 Juke.

As such, the second-generation Juke arrived during the fall season of 2019 on the then-all-new CMF-B platform shared with the second-generation Renault Captur and the fifth-generation Renault Clio, but the company restricted its reach to Europe and Australasia. The rest of the regions, instead, received the newly minted and slightly larger but toned-down Nissan Kicks.

Today, the F16 iteration of the Juke has already gone through various upgrades, including the arrival of an all-new 1.6-liter hybrid powertrain back in 2022 and a proper facelift for the 2024 model year with an updated interior, new paintjobs, and fresh trim levels. But what if that is not enough – what if people still crave for a new iteration of the high-performance Juke-R?

Well, Nissan will probably never make one again because it has other concerns at the moment – including the development of the e-power technology plus the introduction of numerous refreshed and all-new models all over the world according to their latest business strategy.

No worries; the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is always ready to help. So, Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, thinks that now is the right CGI time to work on an all-new Nissan Juke-R, complete with a stand-out orange shade and many aerodynamic enhancements.

At the front, we can easily observe the differences – a new front fascia includes a completely redesigned bumper and larger vents. There are also a couple of innovative 'grab handle' elements on the side of the round lights, by the way. The little rascal feels slightly lower than in standard guise and rides on sporty alloy wheels with body-color-matched brake calipers. At the rear, as far as we can tell, there's a larger wing on top of the spoiler.

So, what do you think? Should Nissan bring out a new iteration of the Juke-R, potentially with a turbo hybrid powertrain that would give a massive jolt to the 1.6-liter gasoline engine? Or should we root for a Nissan Kicks-R or Nismo instead of this?
