The American muscle car lifestyle is about to nosedive into potential ICE-powered oblivion. Alone, the S650 seventh-generation 2024 Ford Mustang is keeping the banner alive with V8 stubbornness. But for how long?
The sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro is no more – production ended in December 2023 and there is no successor in sight. Only a hint from GM's corner office head honchos that it might one day come back… as an affordable, no-frills electric car. Meanwhile, the Mustang is more and more a sports car rather than a pony or muscle car – just look at the $325k Mustang GTD and its supercar attitude.

Mopar fans might not be happy with the eighth-generation Dodge Charger either. Indeed, the L-bodied Dodge Challenger coupe and the Charger four-door sedan were also sacrificed and sent to car Valhalla at the end of last year. In their stead, there will be the 2024 Charger Daytona with EV powertrains and then the 2025 Charger Sixpack with the new 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six churning out 420 hp or 550 hp.

So, is anyone surprised that everyone is dreaming left and right – including across the imaginative realm of digital car content creators – about revived Chevy Camaros and Dodge Challengers? Some have the classic muscle car attitude because they favor tradition above all else. Others, knowing that the world never stops and always spins in order to move forward, have adapted to the novel sports car times.

For example, London, UK-based virtual artist Al Yasid, better known as al.yasid on social media, is again making purists run amok crying their Dodge Challenger outrage. Or maybe not? Anyway, over the years, this European pixel master has worked on Americana on a few occasions. He even did a CGI Dodge Challenger Demon Ute (coupe utility) truck as an attempt at an SRT Rampage of the 21st century.

As for his Challenger ideas, a long, sleek, lowered, and chopped Dodge could one day fight off the incessant Ford Mustang sports car transformation if he had his way from across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI. If not, at least he's revisiting the concept occasionally and making improvements or giving it a new livery and a change of scenery, as in this case where he switched the background from the aseptic studio to a local factory in the wilderness.

The Dodge Challenger, meanwhile, looks ready to bring back fond memories of the muscle car times while also touching on the new sports car approach with its long wheelbase and ultra-low demeanor. Modern elements (like LEDs all over the place) abound, but there are also vintage touches like the alloy wheel and yellow-wall tire treatment. Too bad we don't get to glimpse the cabin or what's under the sleek long hood, but at least we know it's something ICEy, as hinted by the big side exhausts!
