Alfa Romeo's 2011 Sales Target Doesn't Match Fiat's

Alfa Romeo is an iconic brand that's expected to revive in the next few years, and Sergio Marchionne himself admitted that it has so much potential that it could even grow bigger than Fiat. In reality however, things aren't going so well and, just by looking on the sales forecasts for the next few years, one should instantly understand that something's wrong in the way Alfa Romeo tries to interact with the market.

The most interesting fact is that what Alfa Romeo plans to do in 2011 isn't entirely what Fiat expects from the brand. According to Wall Street Journal, Alfa hopes to deliver around 170,000 vehicles in 2011, while Fiat said that Alfa's 2011 target should go around 200,000 units.

Alfa Romeo will most likely rely on two models, the Giulietta and the MiTo, but the company is also gearing up for its debut in the United States through the Fiat - Chrysler alliance.

In 2010, Giulietta performed pretty decent, reaching sales of 39,700 vehicles at the end of the year. Still, it failed to exceed Alfa's expectations, as estimates pointed to more than 40,000 units delivered by year end.

However, the 2011 Geneva Motor Show that will take place in March is believed to bring a new Alfa model on stage because voices familiar with the matter hint that Italians prepare to show 4C GTA concept at the show. Although not much is known about the vehicle, sources claim that this could preview an upcoming Alfa model that would borrow certain design elements from the 8C Competizione.
