Alfa Romeo and Zagato have a long history together. But Aston Martin seems to be getting all the attention from the famous design house.
Over the years, they've put together some amazing machines that even rivaled Ferrari in terms of redness. However, the inspiration for this project comes from something you'd probably not remember, the 1300 Junior from almost half a century ago.
Two designers, Rishi Soman and Siddhant Jaokar from India, took the idea of a small, engaging coupe and modernized it completely. This contemporary GT Junior Coupe is probably not something Alfa Romeo is even interested in making, because like most automakers it wants that SUV money. But we feel that this is what the 4C should have been.
Other than maybe a Top Gear review or two, people aren't interested in a bare-bones sports car where you need a screwdriver just to open the door and there is no power steering. Sure, lightness and agility matter, but not as much as the overall experience.
Whereas the 4C looked frumpy and ready to burst, this Junior Zagato is something you want to endlessly stare at. Taking advantage of the tiny sports car body, its creators emphasized the width of its fenders. Its front is something interesting as well, featuring a simple evolution of the Alfa look, with even narrower headlights and a triangular main grille.
Judging from its proportions, this car would be front-engined. It would be nice to have the twin-turbo, Ferrari-engineered V6 in this bad boy. But if you look closely at the photos, you won't see any exhaust tips. So far, nobody has built a classic sports car or roadster in an electric format. So here's a niche for you, Alfa Romeo. Get it before Genesis does.
About the only criticism we have is that it doesn't look much like a modern Zagato, many of which have a specific roof design.
