The German automobile association ADAC presents Bosch with the Yellow Angel award in the "Innovation and Environment" category, for the Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) system introduced in 2013.
The first bikes to receive the added safety features of the MSC are the KTM 1190 Adventure and 1190 Adventure R.
The MSC is a specialized aid to the existing ABS and provides assistance to braking when the motorcycle leans in a curve. The sensor package monitors pitch, rotation and and dynamics on all axes and works with the ABS in adjusting the braking force.
This way, the MSC system ensures the bike slows down in a controlled manner and traction is not lost at either wheel, drastically reducing the number of crashes caused by improper use of the brakes around a bend.
This is the second Yellow Angel prize for Bosch, after the 2010 one, awarded by the ADAC for the ABS Generation 9 system.
